Digging Deep: Emotional Intensity

Owning the emotional core by applying the “tools of belief.”  An imagination-based exploration applying internal techniques designed to deepen and enliven character stakes and emotional life.  Never push or lie again!

The job of an actor is to be natural and important.  Natural without a rich, emotional life is simply life on the street, banal.  Try to add importance by pushing in the moment and it can get   phony and ugly - we can see the “work” and the actor tension, especially on camera. 

By employing the tools of belief, the source of character needs and obstacles is internalized.  As a result, magic simply happens!  Your character’s inner life feels palpable and alive with no pushing or artifice in the moment.  Your work is both natural and important!  

During “Digging Deep,” exercises and monologues combine to make the organic emotional life of character more consistently accessible and dynamic than previously available. 

 Through the use of tools of the imagination and belief, actors become freer to inhabit the character’s world rather than simply repeating their own.  It is only through the universal imagination that actors can “dig deep,” soar and transform.

N.B. All courses progress in a logical and consecutive sequence. Furthermore, students are frequently turned away once the maximum number of participants has been reached. For these reasons, students who begin the session agree to complete the entire session and are, therefore, financially responsible for that session
